A marriage in trouble!

Marriage is all about paradigms. “When I was going to get married, an elderly person called me to ‘advise’ me. He went on to point out that as a man, I must not let down my guard or tolerate ‘rubbish’ from my wife because whenever you give women an inch, they will take a mile. In fact, the best thing is to use your wife’s weakness to keep her in submission”. Thank God his advice came late because before then, I had already formed a paradigm based on the word of God. Little wonder his wife is threatening to leave their marriage today.

A paradigm is a framework containing the basic assumptions, ways of thinking, and methodology that are commonly accepted by members of a scientific community |Dictionary.com. Marriage is all about paradigms. We all have basic assumptions of what marriage is; who a man/woman is. Some of these assumptions are derived from our cultures and some other obsolete sources. A wrong paradigm or belief can cost lives. Can you imagine having a medical doctor operating on your loved one with obsolete knowledge?

What are your basic assumptions, beliefs and concepts about romance and marriage? What were you taught as a young person? A software may be intangible, but it controls the whole computer.

ACTION POINT: Any paradigm that demonises or manipulates your hubby, wife or people will lead you down the wrong path. Align your thoughts to God’s words. He is the creator of marriage, He has the user manual.
