Fight For Your Marriage!

Last time, we discussed the importance of starting the Gratitude journey by documenting at least one thing that you are grateful for in your spouse everyday. This may sound awkward, but it is the little things we do that makes a difference in relationships. It’s amazing how sincere statements like, “I am sorry”, “thank you”, “please”, can make a difference to a spouse who feels used and taken for granted. These are intangible, but powerful skills and tools successful couples use to spice up their marital romance. Sometimes, we use SMS, phone calls, face-to-face communication, sticky notes, etc., to express just how happy we are to have each other. I try to do this deliberately because I have observed that the reason many people don’t succeed in marriage is because they commonize the little steps that cause big changes.

Reading and applying what you learn from this devotional is guaranteed to transform your life and marriage. We receive testimonials regularly from couples who were on the verge of giving up on their marriage, telling us how God stepped in to change things. Hence, we encourage you this morning, to embark on the process of spicing up your marriage by communicating to your spouse daily what you are grateful for concerning him/her and your marriage. Someone may ask, “what if they don’t reciprocate?” To this we ask, “what if they do?” More so, we often recommend that you do your part without pressuring or nagging him/her to do his/her part, keep sowing the seed of love, it conquers all oppositions. However, if you are experiencing an abuse, please seek help immediately.

THINK & ACT: Place value on your marriage, fight for it! Do what needs to be done, don’t procrastinate!
