My Honeymoon Experience!

Relationships are life changing, I have been impacted by them; family members, mentors, friends, … God has used and is still using to transform my life and I am forever grateful for such relationships. However, whenever I rank these relationships, my marriage occupies a high pedestal. God has used my wife in many ways to make me a better person and I believe she can say the same. This is why I don’t believe in the phrase ‘self-made man’. Personally, I think making such assertions is like a fruit saying it is self-made. We are all products of the books we have read, teachings, mentoring and parenting we have received. All these are important factors to the success you claim as yours. I remember where I was 6 years ago and I can tell you the people God used to open doors for me at different times.

“I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” John 5:30. Jesus Christ, the son of God was categorically asserting the extent to which He depends on God’s guidance in everything He does. In the same way, this Valentine period, please take some time to acknowledge the people who have opened doors for you, most especially your spouse. Celebrate the input he or she has made in your life, this has nothing to do with his/her weaknesses. Rather, it is about focusing on the positives. Life is measured in moments not years, seize this opportunity now to appreciate this wonderful person.

Are you preoccupied with your spouse’s weaknesses? When was the last time you spent time together to nurture each other?

THINK & ACT: Take a step now, stop what you are doing and take that step, this will make the next one easier. Begin the process of building the honeymoon experience into your home.
