Our Romance Story – By Babatunde and Bridget Elesin

FFA: Thank you for being willing to share your Romance Story with us, we appreciate you! Please introduce yourselves.

Our names are Babatunde and Bridget Elesin aka TeamElesin.

Couple on a mission!

FFA: We hail you, TeamElesin!

Babatunde Elesin: I am an Engineer by profession, but I am more of a salesman now as I am involved in selling Engineering designs and solutions of the company I work in to those that need our services.

Bridget Elesin: I call myself domestic goddess as I am a stay at home mum caring for my family and also involved in several ventures. We are both family life coaches, by certification and experience.

FFA: Interesting! “We are both family life coaches”, what a family-centred team! 😀How long have you been married?

June 14th 2017 will be our 14th year together as husband and wife.

FFA: What attracted you to each other?

Babatunde: Her acts of service, humility, kindness, beauty, her love for God and people.

Bridget: His heart for God and people, his self confidence, his smiles and ability to tolerate people.

FFA: Many things wrapped in one.😀 How did you propose?

Babatunde: My wife still says it was a business proposal. I told her where I see myself going in a few years’ time and asked if she sees herself in the picture, after thinking through, she said, “yes!”. Lol.

Blissful romance!

FFA: Straight to the point! No time to beat around the bush. Lol!

Bridget: Yes, it was a business proposal and I must admit, it was a unique one. However, he still got on his knees later to add effect to his business proposal! Lol

FFA: How sensational! 😄 How do you fill your romance-tank; improve intimacy; and take romance to the next level?

We are both intentional about our marriage and relationship, so we take time to communicate. We go on regular date nights. We actually have our date nights every 14th of the month to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

FFA: Wow! How deliberate!

We go on trips together, do life and ministry together. We are in each other’s space and we enjoy being together.

FFA: Hmm… creating time for bonding and fun memories. Do you have family rituals that bind you together?

Yes, our monthly date night is one. We pray together every day and we ensure that we are kind to each other, in words and deeds. We also do ministry together. We are in the Family Life Department of our church, so we counsel about-to-wed couples together. We also engage in activities to bless humanity by supporting various organisations and also run a monthly food and medical outreach to reach out to the less previledge in our community.

Beautiful union!

FFA: Wow, a family on a mission! God bless you for the great work you do.
How have you been able to navigate through the challenges of each phase of your marriage?

We believe in God, so praying together works when we have challenges. We always tell ourselves we are a team, so win or lose, we win and lose together.

FFA: That’s awesome, harnessing the power of synergy!

That has helped us. In our early days of marriage, for 6 months, there was no furniture in our living room as we couldn’t afford it, but even when we eventually paid for furnitures, the carpenter took his time in bringing the furnitures, we had to threaten him with the police before he finally brought them. We both saw this as a phase that will pass in our lives, and yes, it passed.

FFA: Sticking together through thick and thin – that’s the way to go! What advice do you have for singles/the engaged?

Side by side!

Our advice will be marry a covenant person; someone who loves God and has the fear of God. Marry a friend you can truly communicate with, marry a team player that will ensure the marriage works by agreeing to play their part.

FFA: “Marry a covenant person… a team player”, that’s deep. Thank you so much so much for that. Any encouraging words for couples going through a challenging time?

Couples must know that when they see things together as a team, they will have better results. They must learn to forgive each other in advance as offence will come but when love is at work, you forgive the person no matter what.

FFA: You both are so intentional! There’s so much to learn from you both, you are a great example. Thank you for sharing your Romance Story.
