Why does consistent propaganda work? Why do bright and informed people believe things that do not pass basic, rational and rigorous test? Well, I cannot give you an exhaustive answer to these questions, but as a coach, I can share what I have tested and proven, which is REPETITION.
You see, when people hear something for the first time, there is a tendency for them to react or reject it, depending, of course, on what it is. However, when they hear it again and again, their original reaction begins to wane. Have you ever wondered why people sit for hours watching Jeremy Kyle show with all the swearing, violence and bizarre stories? It’s simple, they get used to it. Whatever we see and hear consistently, we often rationalize – which is a step away from acceptance.
To go back to the reason behind this post, who do you listen to? What is your favourite channel? What opinion have you accepted as regards romance and marriage? According to Charles Jones, “You will be the same person in five years as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read”. This means that we can predict if you will still be married or happily married in 5 years’ time by observing who you listen to today.
Choose the blog you visit, choose your close associate, choose the books you read. Don’t leave these things to chance because your happiness depends on them.
