It has been a wonderful time discussing Fatherhood. This series on Fatherhood is not meant to condemn anyone, but to encourage people to reevaluate their approach and upgrade their skills. If you are a good Father, you can become a great one, there is always room for growth. Hence, it does not matter where you start from, just keep at it, even if your children are not responding yet, sometimes, they are trying to weigh your persistence, your love for them or trying to get your attention; it could be a call for help. Evaluate your approach/parenting style, but don’t stop reaching out. On the spiritual side of things, it is important to remember that you are their priest, their spiritual leader, leading them into the presence of God.
“And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings” Hosea 4:9. Here, the scripture is asserting that people’s actions are often immensely influenced by their spiritual leaders. Hence, as Fathers, we must be cautious and more importantly, leverage on this influence to steer our children aright. God forbid that we bring forth children who enlist themselves as tools for wickedness or end up in eternal damnation. We must be deliberate about teaching, discipling and modeling the right ideals, both in public and behind closed doors. Integrity is one of the hallmarks of effective parenting. Children are often put off by hypocrisy.
